In the Scandinavian kingdom of Arendelle, princesses Elsa and Anna are sisters and best friends. But Elsa shuts herself away when she accidentally injures Anna with her mystical power to create snow and ice. Years later, when Elsa (Menzel) is crowned queen, her secret is exposed and she escapes in shame to the mountains and her ice palace. With Arendelle cloaked in eternal winter, Anna (Bell) sets out to bring Elsa back with the help of a friendly ice-seller Kristoff (Groff) and a goofy snowman Olaf (Gad).
Loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s "The Snow Queen," Disney's box-office hit is a sheer delight, deservedly winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Driven by the stunning song-writing talents of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (who also won an Oscar for the powerhouse ballad "Let it Go"), this gorgeously animated fairy-tale pops with energy and emotion. The snowy vistas and icy fjords are stunning, and Menzel and Bell match the visuals with their bold, expressive deliveries. Gad is also sublime as the loveable Olaf, and stops the show with his ode to "warm hugs" in the song "In Summer." "Frozen" will warm the hearts of your whole family.
