What it’s about
This omnibus collection features 41 Oscar-winning and all-time favorite Warner Bros. and MGM cartoon classics from the 40s and 50s, all in crisp new transfers. In addition to the rambunctious antics of Tom & Jerry, Speedy Gonzalez, Bugs Bunny, and the rest of the gang, you'll find plenty of crazed rarities and extra features to keep your mood high.
Why we love it
By today's standards, the cartoons collected here (“Duck Amuck,” “For Scent-imental Reasons,” “What's Opera, Doc?”) are not just witty, wild, and funny, they're downright insane. Of course, some may offend contemporary attitudes, since booze-swilling, cigar-chomping, and insensitive ethnic depictions are all part of the Looney Tunes milieu. But Oscar-caliber animators like Jones, Fleischer, and Avery were true visual artists who pushed hand-drawn animation to its outermost limits, and their best work expressed the anxieties of their time with gut-busting, madcap glee.
