What it’s about

In this sublime animated classic, the title character is a young deer born in the forest, who discovers the joys of the natural world with the coming of spring. Later Bambi must face life’s sadder realities when he experiences loss at the hands of human hunters. As life progresses and the seasons change, Bambi recovers from his grief and grows into a fine young buck, ready to prove his own mettle.

Why we love it

“Bambi” is an early Disney triumph, showcasing some of the most beautifully detailed animation ever done. The story itself mingles moments of playfulness with high drama to form a timeless masterpiece. Though some younger viewers may be frightened by the pivotal hunting scene, “Bambi” remains a worthy introduction to vintage Disney animation.
